Requirements for becoming an NBCA Recognized Breeder:
- Read, understand, and agree to the National Border Collie Association llc’s Breeder Code of Ethics. The NBCA feels that breeders who are committed to these standards will ultimately produce happier, healthier Border Collies and thereby continue to promote and preserve the working Border Collie.
- Fill out and return the NBCA Recognized Breeder’s application form, either ONLINE or BY MAIL.
- Although not required, the NBCA strongly encourages breeders to utilize the NBCA pedigree database and keep all information of breeding dogs up to date and accurate. This will allow potential buyers to look up breeding stock and see offspring produced to help with more informed decisions.
- NBCA Recognized breeders are also expected to attempt to resolve complaints and issues with clients and puppy homes in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- You must agree to the possibility of random inspections of facilities by NBCA personnel. These inspections will ensure that as a breeder you are adhering to the commitment of raising quality dogs in a clean and safe environment and following the guidelines set forth in the Code of Conduct. Information from the inspections will NOT be released or discussed with the public and will remain confidential and private. If you have any questions about inspections- please contact the NBCA office.
